2005 KYNDALL'S RESERVE
CHARDONNAY
Russian River Valley
The Wine
The soft straw like colored wine has incredible aromas of pineapple, star fruit and perfumed pear followed up with soft baking spice. A full luscious and rich texture meets the palette, following through with soft fruits of elegance. Kyndall’s Reserve Chardonnay is perfect paired with lobster, halibut or crab.
The Vineyard
Dutton Ranch farms over eighty unique, separate vineyards located in the coolest area of the Russian River Valley, primarily in the sub-appellation known as the Green Valley. We have selected our favorite vineyards from our family’s Dutton Ranch to craft wine reflecting our vision of a signature Russian River Valley Chardonnay. Vine Hill Ridge Vineyard planted to Robert Young Clone, creates floral aromas, gives flavors of subtle tropical fruits, and delicately balances Russian River’s crisp apple and pear extractions. Kyndall’s Chardonnay is derived from our Vine Hill Ridge Vineyard and portrays the luxurious essence of lush tropical fruits.
The Winemaking
The fruit is gently pressed in whole clusters, settled for 24 hours and racked into barrels. Individual lots are barrel fermented using indigenous yeast. Undergoing malolactic fermentation, the lees are stirred twice a month. The chardonnay is aged in French oak barrels and then we carefully blend our Kyndall’s Reserve in late spring to allow each barrel to marry and settle before the bottling of Kyndall’s Reserve in July 2006 after approximately 10 months in barrel.
