This exquisite cider hails from Dutton Ranch and our 200-acres of family-owned CCOF certified organic orchards in Sonoma County's Russian River Valley.  Dutton Estate Winery was founded in 1995 by Joe and Tracy Dutton.  Their multi-generational farming heritage set the stage for this delectable cider.

The Art of Cold Production

Our cider is crafted under the guarded secret of cold production, where each apple variety is individually crushed, pressed, and cold settled. This meticulous process allows for each apple's unique flavor profile to develop and the juices to blend together seamlessly. The result is an intensified taste, showcasing the harmonious synergy of the apple varieties.

A Visual and Sensory Experience

The finished cider is a visual marvel. It boasts a brilliant shine and a mature yellow hue, accented with a subtle hint of green - a sight that is best appreciated in a clear glass. Its aroma is a rich tapestry of overripe apples and golden raisins, underpinned by a vibrant mineral base. On the palate, it presents a spectrum from sweet to semi-sweet, perfectly balanced with a touch of bitterness and a mineral finish.

The Legacy of Gravenstein Apples

The Gravenstein apple, emblematic of Sonoma's rich agricultural heritage, was introduced to the area in the early 19th century. It quickly gained prominence due to its distinctive flavor and adaptability, becoming a vital part of the region's agricultural landscape. Despite numerous challenges over the years, diligent preservation efforts by local farmers, community groups, and heritage organizations have ensured the continuation of the Gravenstein apple's legacy, notably in our Hard Apple Cider.

The Historic Dutton Ranch

The Dutton Family, with a history dating back to the late 1800s farming in Sonoma County, has been pivotal in Sonoma's apple cultivation and wine-producing industry. In the 1960s, the Dutton family shifted their agricultural focus from to apple orchards with their move into the Sebastopol area. The cool climate and fertile soil of Sebastopol proved to be well-suited for apple cultivation. Dutton Ranch became known for its high-quality apple production, with various apple varieties grown on the property . Today, it stands as a testament to sustainable farming practices.
