Joe and Steve of Dutton Ranch Named 2017 Sustainable Farmers by Sonoma County Harvest Fair


The Dutton Brothers are recognized for their world class grapes, sustainable farming practices and community leadership. We are truly honored, that Joe Dutton, Owner and Founder of Dutton Estate Winery, and Owner of Dutton Ranch is a recipient for this award. The award being presented October 1, 2017, comes during the time of year when tireless hours are focused to harvest some of the county’s most sought after wine grapes. Read the news release here.

Harvest Arrives and We're Up Late


Each year, harvest and crush is a race, and Mother Nature always sets the pace. This year, the onset of harvest and crush was a 400-yard dash, sweltering and melting in the extreme heat and unusual humidity that shaped how the race of harvest was outlined the last week of August. This didn't stop the passion of Joe Dutton and Dutton Ranch to orchestrate harvesting grapes, 7-days a week from midnight and working their way through mid-day. Night harvest, under the production of construction lights, adds a magnificent glow in wine country’s dark skies of night. September’s nocturnal air echoed the sounds of roaring tractors and grape bins bouncing up and down the vineyard rows. The farm workers whistled and chanted their songs as they hurried to remove each cluster with designed technique and skill. Read more about our winemaking here.

As days and nights become one for grape growers and winemakers, the action of harvest and the existence of the vibrant energy in wine country, is a calling of wine-romance to wine aficionados for a taste of 2017's flavors of harvest, fresh from the vines. The satisfying aromas filling the air of freshly squeezed grape juice permeates romantically through the cellar doors. At Dutton Estate Winery, our extended wine family and wine fans are seeking homage Dutton Estate to see and experience daily life at the winery as we crush on-site, the harvest of this year’s vintage. Dutton Estate Hosts Michael Ray Music


Our family was delighted to host Michael Ray Music and his band to our winery in September. The Dutton's along with the winery crew, delighted the country music band with tastes from the cellar, sips from the bottle and bites of food pairings from our in-house kitchen. Concluding the country music bands visit, they serenaded us with the tunes of their Rose' song. With good times and memories, we were honored to delight them with some Dutton hospitality and personality!
