Sisters Selection wines - 2017 Kylie’s Cuvée Sauvignon Blanc, 2016 Kyndall’s Reserve Chardonnay and 2016 Karmen Isabella Pinot Noir - are named after our daughters. As a six-generation Sonoma County farming family, we’re proud that they have the same craving that Joe and I do for the land and our region. We hope you enjoy the wines as much as we’ve enjoyed creating them.
The Sisters Selection Set includes 1 bottle of each of the following current releases: Kylie's Cuvée Sauvignon Blanc, Kyndall's Reserve Chardonnay and Karmen Isabella Pinot Noir.
2017 Kylie’s Cuvée Sauvignon Blanc –
The 2017 Kylie’s Cuvée Sauvignon Blanc brings a lot of firsts. Itis the first release by our new winemaker, Bobby Donnell. It also features the Sonoma County Sustainably Farmed Grapes logo on the label as part of the new initiative from the Sonoma County Winegrowers Association. We’re proud to be leaders in this for our community and it is the first wine that Kylie, who recently graduated from the University of Arizona, will be selling in her new role as Dutton Estate Brand Ambassador. We specifically choose the Musqué clone from the Shop Block and Mrs. George vineyards in Green Valley for the 201 7vintage. The Shop Block fruit was aged in barrels and the Mrs. George grapes in stainless steel tanks. After four months, they were blended together capturing the fresh fruit and tropical flavors. There is an effervescenceat the tail end that we love too.
2016 Kyndall’s Reserve Chardonnay – The 2016 Kyndall’s Reserve Chardonnayis named for our eldest daughter who has been working at the winery for a couple of years. Her pup, Bandi, is our official greeter. 2016 was a good growing season for us. We selected lots from our Dutton Palms, Sebastopol, and Mill Station vineyards and whole cluster pressed the grapes. A combination of concrete egg and barrel fermentation plus French oak aging kept the wine fresh and lively. This Chardonnay gives you something delightful at every turn from the first whiff all the way through the compelling finish.
2015 Karmen Isabella Pinot Noir – Pinot Noir and the Russian River Valley go hand in hand. When it came to choosing vineyards for the 2016 Karmen Isabella Pinot Noir we selected grapes from our Thomas Road, Green Valley, and Manzana vineyards using clones 115 and 828. We kep teach lot separate until the final blending stage to preserve their distinct qualities and create a Pinot Noir that was ready in its youth or could be enjoyed as it aged. This wine is named for our youngest daughter who tends to be overly analytical and highly expressive...perfect for a Pinot Noir descriptor!
The Sisters Selection Plus includes Blushing Sisters Rosé of Pinot Noir (750ml) and Sweet Sisters Late Harvest Syrah (375ml).
This particular vintage of Blushing Sisters Rosé of Pinot Noir is made from Saignée method or "bleed" of juice from our Thomas Road vineyard, which is one of our boldest Pinot Noir vineyards. Respectfully, this wine is aromatic with melon, strawberry and peach. The taste then gives way to even more intense flavors, including fresh raspberry and cherry.
Our dessert wine, Sweet Sisters Late Harvest Syrah offers the fruit flavors inherent to a cool climate Syrah that can only be extracted and intensified by allowing the grapes to hang longer on the vine. With baking spices and raisined aromas filling the glass, hints of sweet boysenberry and blackberry flavors fill your palate, while lending a memory of Grandmas old-fashioned berry pie.
The Patriarchs, the bold and respected personalities from the Family Tree Collection: My Father's Vineyard Syrah, Warren's Collection Chardonnay and La Familía Pinot Noir.
My Father's Vineyard Syrah - This wine speaks to the cool climate of Green Valley from the nose, all the way through to the finish. Erupting with aromas of smoked meats, black pepper and violets, My Father's Vineyard elegantly transitions to having wonderful blueberry and blackberry flavors with a hint of tobacco.
Warren's Collection Chardonnay is innovatively bottled with a screw cap. Fermented in 35% new French Oak barrels, a vibrant straw color fills the glass. Aromas of baking spices, orange zest, and lime blossom erupt from the glass. A delicate mouth-feel intensifies with flavors of peach, Bosc pear, pineapple, a hint of cinnamon with toasted hazelnut, and sugar cane. The finish concludes with subtle coconut, perfectly ripe mango and a buttery finish.
La Familía Pinot Noir, the color of a beautiful red ruby, is well integrated and focused. Blueberry, blackberry and cherry cola aromas permeate from the glass. With a minerality upon the first sip, you are guided to a rounded mouthful of dark berry, licorice, savory cherry and a finish, which lingers. There are few words to describe this flawless pinot noir.
The Family Gems Collection are the exlusive crown jewels from our family vineyards: Jewell Block Pinot Noir, Thomas Road Pinot Noir, Manzana Vineyard Pinot Noir, Cherry Ridge Vineyard Syrah and Dutton Palms Vineyard Chardonnay.
Jewell Block Pinot Noir is a beautiful red gem stone color opening with complex aromas of cherry and strawberry preserves intertwined with delicate hints of spice and smoke. This wines has a rich introduction onto the palate with flavors of dried black bherry, crushed pomegranate and blueberry reduction. It is framed by nutty, rich tannin with bright citurs and finishes with a touch of root beer hard candy and rhubarb. This is a special and unique example of two selected rows of grapes from the pinnacle Jewell Vineyard.
This mouth filling wine is royaly integrated. Thomas Road Pinot Noir is a forward wine with massive fruit, floral notes and an earthy complexity. On the palate, notes of dried plums, baking snicker doodle, black cherry, cola, black berry jam, grilled meat and even sweet smoked ham blend perfectly. The lingering long finish entices another sip. With strong tannins, Thomas Road follows through with great structure and boldness. - 91 Points Wine Advocate
A deep, rich dark red color,s ubtle hints of violet help to accentuate the beauty in Manzana Vineyard Pinot Noir. Aromas of warm baked pie crust and freshly sliced apples are interwoven with earthy tones of forest floor and pine needles. Robust cherry and baked apple pave the way for the warm floavors of molasses, cinnamon and vanilla that follow. Big and round on the palate, this wine expands to a powerfully and complex on the mid-palate and finishes with fresh sliced apple while maintaining a well-structured body and integrated, sikly tannins. - 91 Points Wine Advocate
Dutton Palms Vineyard Chardonnay With a medium golden hue, this wine has excellent clarity. Honey, nougat, char and spice hit your nose with hints of eucalyptus and ginger. With a seamless introduction on the palate sliced green apple, fresh crème, tangerine and grapefruit rind are complex and end with a smooth, silky finish of fine oak, integrated with ginger and marzipan. 91 Point Wine Advocate
Swirling Cherry Ridge Vineyard Syrah in the glass offers fragrant aromas of freshly picked blackberries and blueberries, along with scents of pepper, tobacco and bacon. Subtle nuances of vanilla toasted chestnuts and smoked meats are indicators of time aged in French oak. These flavors come alive on the palate with a velvety texture followed by flavorful blackberry pie and cherry pie. Refined tannins are balanced well with the acidity from the vineyards location. A finale of mixed berries and crispy bacon on the taste buds are keenly noted. Pairing well with grilled meats and old-fashioned stews this wine serves favorably with any season.
