 Our Wines

We make over 12 expressive and distinct bottlings of wine.  Each wine represents our family’s dedication to agriculture and passion for the land. With a family name, or through a story of a designated vineyard site, clonal selection or vineyard rows, Dutton Estate wines are personalized with Russian River Valley flavors and heritage. At Dutton Estate Winery, we craft Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, Rosé of Pinot Noir, and Late Harvest wines. A recently added project to our collection of wines, is a Sparkling Hard Apple Cider. Hard Apple Cider, noted as a sparkling fruit wine, is crafted in celebration of our family’s farming legacy with apples, and was once known as Sebastopol and Green Valley’s abundant crop planted in the early 1900's through 1990's.

Lucky for us, behind every amazing vineyard that we farm comes an equally deep story from our multi-generational family history.  The La Familia Pinot Noir is no exception.  It is about neighbors and friends.  Families and farming.  Treating people with respect and tending to Mother Nature.  His committment over time has rewarded us with a wine that is focused and pristine.  The Pommard clone on this vineyard lends many dark fruit qualities ot the wine.  This clone consistently produces small berries and clusters with concentrated fruit flavors.

Experienced the elegant side of Pinot Noir with fruit from our Jewell Vineyard, a true gem. This limited production wine is made in the old-world style with more earthiness apparent from start to finish. The nose is consistently bright bouquet of bing cherry, lavender, and plum blossoms. Aromatically complex and simultaneously delicate, the flavors that exude are Portobello mushroom, damp forest floor, orange coated with Baker’s dark chocolate, and hints of clove and allspice.

This svelte and complex wine is defined as the “Big Brother” of our Pinot Noirs. Coming from a winery with a “Sisters’ Collection” of wines that says a lot! It definitely holds its own and lets its distinctive voice be heard…and tasted. Tracy Dutton has consistently noted the particular aromas, of the red cherries from this distinctive vineyard.

One of the hallmarks of our Karmen Isabella Pinot Noir is its consistency vintage to vintage. We are fortunate to own and farm amazing vineyard properties in the picturesque Russian River Valley, especially for this extremely delicate grape. The crimson color of the 2016 vintage leads to aromas of blackberry jam, rose petals, fresh herbs, and Red Delicious apple. The Thomas Road Vineyard adds a layer of earthiness we love. The Green Valley Road Vineyard brings in amazing cherry and raspberry and the Manzana Vineyard translates to a round mouthfeel and fruit character. Sourcing from these three sites gives this Pinot Noir flavors of pomegranate, black cherry, berry jam (the trifecta of blueberry, raspberry, and blackberry), notes of citrus peel, and a delicious touch of cinnamon stick tinged with brown sugar. This energetic wine has noticeable acidity, firm tannins, and a structured finish with a juicy pop at the end that makes you want more.

Our past is our future and this wine, in honor of Joe’s father, Warren Dutton and is the embodiment of his spirit. It represents respect between the farmer and the winemaker and the enthusiasm that Warren brought whenever our wines were poured with friends and family. The fruit for the 2017 Warren’s Collection is harvested from the Dutton Ranch’s original Chardonnay vineyard. The Shop Block was planted in 1967 and is located on the valley floor of the cool Green Valley region. These 50-year-old wines produce history in a bottle!

Enjoy savings on this item in our Summer Cellar Sale, End of Vintage!  Multi-generations and a love of the land are at the nexus of all the things that happen at Dutton Estate. This vineyard designation is a classic example. The vineyard was originally Tracy Dutton’s father’s property. It is now managed and farmed by Joe Dutton, his son-in-law, and sold by Tracy and her eldest daughter, Kyndall, at the winery. This cool-climate Syrah brings together everything we love – a meatiness, savory notes, and a finish that is like liquid gold. The opening bouquet reminds Tracy of one of her family’s famous three-berry pies that was freshly baked. You’ll notice a mild white pepper note come through as the flavors transition to cured meats, boysenberry, thyme, rosemary, and blackberry. The savory essence spills from every soft edge and screams to be served with a Bolognese sauce or bruschetta with sea salt, garlic, tomatoes, and extra virgin olive oil. This full-bodied Syrah can be enjoyed now or cellared for the next 3-5 years.
