This wine has a beautiful pale straw color with bright yellow hues. Unrestrained and friendly, the scents of lemon grass, honey, key lime, fresh lemon blossoms, light ginger and dried pineapple jump from the glass. The entry is vibrant, seductive and refreshing. Opening with lush citrus fruit, peach and unripe raspberries. The flavors are very concentrated and refreshing. The mouth feel is dreamy from the moment it hits your palate to the long lime zest finish. Well balanced with mineral structure and layers of viscous fruit on top.
Dutton Ranch farms over eighty unique, separate vineyards located in the coolest areas of the Russian River Valley, primarily in the sub-appellation known as the Green Valley. This two acre lot of Shop Block Vineyard, was recently grafted to the Musque clone of Sauvignon Blanc. This vineyard is located at the Home Ranch west of the town of Graton in the Green Valley-Russian River appellation. This is one of the coolest sites planted to Sauvignon Blanc in California. The Cohen Vineyard is one of the oldest vineyards cared for by Dutton Ranch and was planted in the early 1970’s. It is located at the top of a ridge just north of the town of Occidental on the far western edge of the Green Valley-Russian River appellation.
The Shop Block Vineyard is hand sorted then gently whole cluster pressed. The juice is cold settled, transferred into stainless steel tanks and slowly fermented with cultured yeasts. After fermentation the wine is moved into neutral oak barrels where it is aged for 4 months. After the Shop Block wine is racked off the lees and prepared for cold stabilization, it is then blended with the Cohen Vineyard wine in stainless steel tanks, becoming Kylie’s Cuvée. There was no Malolactic fermentation enhancing the crisp acidity of the wine. The wine is fined and filtered prior to bottling, bottled April 2016.
