VINEYARD

Dutton Ranch oversees the cultivation of over 80 distinct vineyards nestled within the scenic Russian River Valley. Situated in the Northeast region of the Green Valley sub-AVA, the Thomas Road vineyard personifies the essence of terroir—a genuine expression of its unique origins. This vineyard boasts a single clone, employing two distinct trellising systems that impart varying fruit set and yields. Furthermore, it proudly carries the certifications of being Sonoma County Sustainably-Farmed and Fish Friendly.

WINEMAKING

The Thomas Road fruit was carefully hand-harvested at night and transported to the winery at dawn to maintain cool temperatures. After destemming, the fruit underwent a three-day cold soak in a stainless steel open-top fermenter. Daily punch downs gently broke open the berries. Following the initial soak, the must was inoculated with yeast and underwent a seventeen-day primary fermentation. Meticulous punch downs were conducted two to three times daily, resulting in a total fermentation period of twenty-one days. The juice was captured in pristine French oak barrels. After capturing the free-run juice, the must was gently pressurized in a basket press. Subsequently, the wine gracefully underwent complete malolactic fermentation in oak barrels, aging for eleven months in carefully selected French oak barrels, half of which were new.

TASTING NOTES

The Thomas Road exudes a deep ruby hue, boldly echoing its predecessors. Aromas of currants entwine with forest floor notes, evoking visions of moss-laden cedar trees in the nearby Armstrong woods on a crisp morning. Delighting the palate, truffle flavors dance harmoniously, embraced by velvety tannins. This Pinot Noir is a true delight for Cabernet enthusiasts.
