93 Points "Publisher's Pick" - The Tasting Panel & The Somm Journal

"Off the estate Manzana vineyard, in the Green Valley neighborhood, this red is primed for pleasure. Roses and bright cinnamon-kissed cherries are fresh and vibrant. A touch of sweet tobacco and rosemary season a perpetual flow of juicy red fruit. Light bodied and delicate, but with a grounding of tilled soil on the finish."

92 Points - Planet Grape Wine Review

"Rich, racy, tart and dry with notes of cherry, blackberry, fig, mushroom, cocoa powder and cinnamon."

THE VINEYARDS

Dutton Ranch farms more than 80 separate vineyards in the Russian River Valley. Our vineyards are certified Sonoma County Sustainable Farm Friendly. Each vineyard that contributed to this vintage played an important role in the overall flavor and complexity in this wine. The Green Valley Vineyard provides dark, richly flavored fruit, the Campbell Vineyard adds earthy notes and acidity, and the Manzana Vineyard lends red fruit and cherry aromas. Karmen Isabella is part of our Sisters Selection, named for Joe and Tracy's youngest daughter. This wine embodies Karmen Isabella, "old soul" of the family, with its quiet complexity and depth of flavor.

THE WINEMAKING

This wine required multiple night-time passes in the vineyard, each lot fermented separately to extract ideal flavors. Each lot was fermented separately to extract ideal flavors. It was cold-soaked for 3 days and punched down once daily during the cold soak period. Punch downs and pump overs occurred up to three times daily during primary fermentation, Once fermentation was complete, each lot was aged separately in 100% French oak. The wine was then blended and yielded 45% new oak.

TASTING NOTES

The Karmen Isabella Pinot Noir captures the best of vineyards from which we source. The nose entices with bright red fruit notes and elegant floral aromas. On the palate, the wine light, smooth and has a lingering finish, balancing delicate tannins and acidity, reminiscent of classic Burgundian Pinot Noir. Flavors evolve into deeper, juicy fruits like raspberry and cherry. This lighter bodied Pinot Noir lends itself to countless pairings, including classic Italian pasta dishes or grilled cheese with tomato confit.
