Dutton Ranch proudly cultivates 80 distinct vineyards in the enchanting Russian River Valley. Our esteemed Jewell Block Vineyard, with its elevated position and gentle western orientation, consistently yields wines with vibrant aromatics and nuanced earthy complexities. For this exceptional wine, we carefully select fruit from meticulously tended rows, using a sophisticated quadrilateral cordon trellis system. At Dutton Ranch, we are committed to sustainable farming practices, certified Sonoma County Sustainably-Farmed and Fish-Friendly, ensuring a thriving legacy for future generations.

WINEMAKING

Jewell Block is a hidden gem in our winery's portfolio. The main challenge we face with this vineyard is the limited fruit yield, and this vintage was no exception - only 3 barrels worth of grapes. Each day, we carefully select fermentation practices and barrels, making critical decisions as we taste the juice. The payoff is incredibly rewarding when everything comes together. Despite being slow to ripen and stubborn to ferment, Jewell Block challenged us every step of the way. The grapes spent 21 days fermenting on the skins, and after pressing, we can confidently say that these barrels are among our favorites in the cellar. The Jewell Block Pinot Noir has been aged for 11 months in French Oak barrels.

TASTING NOTES

With its alluring fragrance and delicate nature, this Pinot exudes an inviting, fruit-forward charm on the palate. As the wine breathes, the abundant aromas of cherry and strawberry intertwine with earthier undertones. Elegantly smooth flavors of cherry and red plum are complemented by a touch of cinnamon, resulting in a lingering finish for this light-bodied Pinot. Slightly chilled, it becomes a delightful companion for warmer days.
